In SI on Thursday, we watched this video that details a great way to start planning your week.

One tool to make this really easy is google calendar: it's free, and easy once you get the hang of it.
Here is a screenshot of how I use google calendar. I have different, color-coded calendars for each area of my life, and I add recurring 'events' for certain things I do every week. As the video demonstrates, I put in my class schedule first, and other non-moving appointments, such as SI. I also put in my sleep schedule because sleep is very important to me. 😄
The great thing about google calendar is, you can set it to notify you of certain events. For example, because I have the app, I got my calendar to notify me when its time to go to bed, or time to leave for class.
Bonus: If you download the Waze app, it can use real-time traffic info to notify you when to leave. Late no more!!
For me, having my routine in a big, visual interface makes it super easy to know what's coming up. I can say, "No, I can't get lunch on Wednesday, but can we do friday?"
However, for some this may be too overwhelming. It may be easier to view only one day at a time, rather than the full week (which you can set google to do).
When it comes to individual assignments, you can put 'notes' (in the event fields) to dictate exactly what you want to accomplish during study time. For example, on Fridays, I work on the reading for my monday class, so I might write 'read pages 60-90' at 'South Lyon Library.' It is CRUCIAL to outline exactly what you will be doing and when you will do it. I also like to know where, but that is less important.
Alternately, you may choose to print your schedule every week, so you can write down what you need to do in your study spaces.
I use a planner to record individual assignments, test dates, emails I need to send, and then later I assign times which I will get things done. So, I might write 'finish reading chapter 3' off to the side, and then later I sit down and find the time to do that. This looks like either: putting it in my 'notes' field of Tuesday's study block in google calendar, or I will write it down in my paper planner on the Tuesday page: 3pm. Or both!
I made a video detailing how to use Google calendar this way-it shows exactly how to do this stuff:
