4 Quick Tips for Staying Motivated
1. Reward as you go. You should be proud of everything you accomplish along the way, not just the destination itself. Soak up the feeling of satisfaction after finishing an assignment, a page of an essay, or even one particularly difficult math problem. Learning is fun, so take pleasure in accomplishing small goals. If you don't let yourself be happy until getting that final grade, you're doing yourself a disservice.
2. Set goals. Use intervals, such as daily, weekly, monthly, and each semester. Think about your long term goals. Your degree, a job in your field of choice, entry into law school/med school..why are you in college? What steps can you take to get closer to success? Think about your long term goal every day and usse it to remind you why you're working so hard. Try writing down weekly goals, like 'go to bed on time 4 nights out of the week' or, 'study more, go out less.' Check in and evaluate what you can change in your life to make these things happen.
3. Don’t get discouraged. Sometimes, we don't finish an assignment on time, or maybe we oversleep our classes. We're human, and mistakes happen. Don't use this as an excuse to give up! All is not lost! We all mess up. It won’t be the end of the world unless you give up completely.
4. Do things sooner rather than later. Try to get your work done as soon as possible. Use your scheduling tecnique of choice (this site is full of ideas) to plan when things will get done. Try to finish a sizeable chunk of work before taking a break. Ultimately, it is most effective to prioritize work over tv/social media. That being said, don't overwork yourself.
